The Evo interior is awful. I was about to buy an Evo, and I figured I could settle for the truly terrible interior (it's the same as a base Lancer - a $10k grocery getter, other than the recaro seats). Then the dealership started playing games and dodging questions, so I walked out, went down the road and bought an STi, which has a much nicer interior (for a sports car, anyway). The 9-2X Linear and Aero (2.5RS and WRX trims) will be excellent sellers, I'll bet. WRXs have nice, clean, functional interiors (the materials are not much worse than in a 9-3 linear), great performance, practical stuff-hauling ability, and are a blast to drive. Basically, Japanese Saabs.

The STi is faster in a line than the Evo, but most reviewers give the Evo an edge in handling. They can have it.

I seriously doubt Subaru will give up their STi. In addition to being their halo car, it's distinctly Subaru - it's their race car for pete's sake. There's nothing to gain by them "licensing" it to Saab/GM. I'm more excited about the next version of the 9-2X, which will be co-developed by Fuji and Saab. That might see a subaru AWD system with a Saab version of the Global 6 with boost. That would get my heart pounding (and I could use my GM discount again!)
