Yes, I am aware of the primary importance of driver skill; however, driver skill has nothing to do with where a car is classed.
And, yes, E Stock is slower, but it is also limited to almost only low-powered 2-seater sports cars, e.g., early Miatas, NA MR2s, et al.
I would be interested in learning which course design elements favor D Stock cars over G Stock in certain instances. D Stock is where G Stock cars that get LSD or AWD are bumped up to (e.g., Mazdaspeed Protege, AWD DSMs, Integra Type R), and is also where the 330ci and WRX play. In my admittedly limited experience running either fairly small, tight courses at a small venue and larger, National Tour caliber courses on a runway (a Nats course setter lives in my region), I have not yet come across a design that puts G Stock cars ahead of D Stock.
