Sorry to hear that. It was not your fault.

I clipped a black steer at night once that was standing in the middle of the road just on the other side of a rise. Didn't hurt him though I don't think. His snout hit the corner of my left front quarter and went up over my windshield--and left steer slobber everywhere. I stopped and put it in reverse and could see it shake it's head a few times and then ran off the road and jumped over a fence!

It was actually pretty funny, but I post because black animals at night are very hard to see until it's too late. Don't feel bad not seeing a small dog, I didn't see a full grown steer!
