I see a few mentions of a specialized Allez. You'll have to try it for yourself. My test ride on one left my hands and wrists numb. I have a couple steel road bikes, an aluminum bike, and a carbon fiber one. I find that the carbon and one of the steel bikes are the most comfortable. Reynolds 853 steel is less comfortable though and seems pretty much like aluminum. ie; The Fuji Robauix Pro (853 steel) performs pretty well but it's a stiff ride and the rear alloy stays bend under acceleration.
Check out bikesdirect dot com. I see some good deals there.
Remember that FIT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYTHING ELSE though.
Also; If you're going to be in the mountains or are going to be bringing lots of stuff with you then a triple may do you well. My comfy Bianchi steel bike has a triple and I use it when I'm out with my kids or if I have a terribly long ride where I may be going quite slow up a hill because I ran out of steem.
