Agreed!
I had a war movie kick this week after setting everything up. Platoon is out and granted it's an older movie, but the dynamics are as weak as can be. Now something newer like Saving Private Ryan was just absolutely earth shaking and amazing. I couldn't get enough of that sound. Some other movies that have been remastered have been great, like Jaws...they did a nice job with that.
It really does depend on how the movie was mixed and produced...certainly makes all the difference in the world.
