It's only a couple more things to be washed. And if you're making more than one pot, those parts must be dried. True, the grinder blade and cup get wet during the brew. I bet the guy with the mold issues was like my brother who chose to avoid the instructions and returned his after "it got all gummed up". It's got to be cleaned after every use; just like any other coffee maker.
ChipJ, are you talking about the Cuisinart? I like my coffee strong just like the next IT guy and haven't had a problem filling the cup to the rim for a full pot. Sure you shouldn't be looking at espresso machines?

BTW, don't overfill the grinder cup. The grinder ain't got the cajones to cut thru it and you'll burn out the motor. I know. A couple times over, I know.
