Any IT or Project Managers out there following the story on the FBI's inabilty to implement what appears to be a variation of a contact management database to be utilized for tracking criminals and terrorists? I assume they were looking to develop a proprietary system with the ability to cross reference bad guys based on various criteria. As a manager at a broker dealer, I understand, somewhat, the difficulties in changing, or even just modifying, applications and software. This case seems to be a total mess where data issues, internal culture, lack of clearly defined deliverables, politics and a host of other issues conspired to make this project a real loser. I would love to learn more about what went on here. Any insight or comments from the MIS savoy TSN crew?
