the question was, "do I want to grow old with her?" It seems to me that's where the rubber really hits the road. Do you want to build a life together? Is the idea of being together in retirement an exciting one? Not just "how hard is my heart pounding now." For me the answer was a resounding "Yes!"
One of my best friends and I, when we consider our wives, like to say we're "marital overachievers." We done good. :) (sorry ... probably don't need to start bragging!)
I wish you the best as you wrestle with this. I think absolute certainty is rare and not necessary. Like so many things in life, getting married is taking a risk (life-long promise & all.) But being married is a good thing!
