you clearly see the wide range of answers to your posts.
If you believe in statistics, you've got 50% chance to get it right. The thing is that how long you have known the other person has little bearing on the longevity of the marriage. No, the odd isn't that good.
It's not entirely a rational decision. The usual doubt is maybe you could find someone better or maybe not 8-). Some people know right away, some always have doubts.
Contrary to many, I think marriage ultimately is a leap of faith. What seems to be great now doesn't mean it will remain that way forever. Things change, people change, circumstances change. You just don't know what life is going to deal you next. Some would say, they don't have to work on their marriage, some would say, they have to constantly work on theirs. If you and your partner are determined to face these challenges and stick together, then yes, you will have a long lasting marriage.
