Not that I've ever needed it, but my iPod (my favorite hard disk based player), along with my Rio 500, Rio 300, Nomad II (one of my favorite flash players) and Creative Muvo all support WMA. Probably gets them brownie points with MS. I think WMA might have some minor technical highlights over MP3, but MP3 is so the defactor standard and pretty much covers the needs of music players... blah blah blah... Whatever happened to OGG? Like WMA, it seemed to have a better compression scheme which is now useless with 20GB players etc that pretty much cover all but the extreme audiophiles storage needs. I do have one friend who has a collection of 130,000 MP3 songs, but he can scarcely tell me what is in his library of music or what I might like out of it - it's merely a hobby of his - seeing how big a MP3 library he can collect... I think he thinks it's a line that chicks dig, "Hey, I've got over 130,000 song in my music collection. They're MP3 music files and they are compressed onto my external hard drive {more geek chatter}..."

I think the iPod mini wins my heart over as my favorite of all that I've seen and used. 4GB is just about exactly right for my very meticulously preened and indexed music library, although 5GB would've been perfect.
