I keep seeing postings here where people say they "need" to buy a car with AWD. I can't really figure out where this need came from (and my other car is a 1987 Jeep that I keep around for hauling things). Last night, there was a snow storm that passed through CT, and I had an absolute blast driving my Viggen with snows. There was an SUV in front of me, and we took off going up a hill and had quite a bit of fun until we came upon people driving insanely slow. I easily kept up with the SUV on an uphill. Heck, I've passed Audis on uphills and more SUVs than I can count. The only problem I have is starting out on an uphill. There, I think that AWD helps. Other than that, I have a tremendously good time in my FWD with snows and don't "need" AWD at all. So, why do people think they need AWD?
