Being a curmudgeon who doesn't like being told what to do, I'd do exactly what you have done.

More seriously, though...
If you don't need to use the trailer, I'd leave it there and see what happens next. Since the the dude in the fancy house didn't have the courtesy to come over and introduce himself, you already know what kind of person you are dealing with. We have a whole load of them in the once-rural town I live in. I find a lot of the people who buy $500K+ executive tract houses tend to have some weird sense of entitlement.

What this very likely means, though, is that the battle ain't over. I suspect the guy may do something, such as call in his lawyer. Be sure you know the setback laws in your town and that you are not in any violation. Take the high road and don't be intimidated.

Personally, I would leave it there, maybe with a bright red tarp on it, just to drive him nuts. If you need the trailer, use some 2x4s and a tarp to erect a little A-frame over it so it is not out in the open.

But don't back down. As someone else noted, he can build a fence. OTOH, maybe he is really a jerk and will come torch the MG.

A side story: in one of my town's most affluent neighborhoods a woman who had recently moved in was working in her yard. It was partway through summer and her lawn had some nice patches of crabgrass and parts were under siege by grubs. A neighbor pulls up in his S-class Benz, rolls down the window, and without introducing himself informs her that her lawn is a disgrace to the neighborhood and she should do something about it. And drives off. There really are a few too many A$$holes in this world.

Please keep us all posted.

Noel
