My 10 1/2 year old lab mix was diagnosed with lymphoma the week after Christmas. Like you, I had some tough decisions to make. I chose to try chemo since I didn't think I would feel too good about myself if I didn't do anything. However, I'm lucky enough to be able to afford it and I only have myself (and my dog and cat) to support.
She was pretty sick when she was diagnosed but she got better. A few weeks ago she started getting worse, and we've started a more aggressive protocol. This is it, I don't think there is anything else that can be done when this stops working. I know it will stop working, that's the nature of lymphoma. I just don't know when.
She has been super happy the last week and I know I made the right choice for me. Everyone's situation is different but you obviously love your dog and that's what makes dogs happy, in my experience.
Good luck and know you're not alone. And that whatever you choose, that it's the right choice for you and your dog.
By the way, my dog loves it when I put the rear seat down in my Saab as well. I think she likes the flat surface and the being a little higher up while lying down.
