Hi,
I am a metallurgical / materials / mechanical engineer, practising in forensic engineering, and graduated in 1980 in Ontario.
I have had about seven career jobs and have owned my own company too. I have never had a boring working day, because I chose something in university that interested me. There are many aspects that I am still learning, for example collision reconstruction physics, because the engineering field is so big, and the borders of the disciplines are changing.
If you think it is more interesting in civil, go for it. If this is just a "greener grass on the neighbour's lawn" trend, you could determine it by taking a civil technical elective. Aerospace and mechanical are also a huge field, and have many sub-specialties.
We never get to know it all, and the confidence you get by tackling a hard degree and making it through senior year generally evaporates when you hit the street, and you realize how little you know.
Polish on your language skills (writing, reading, speaking) and you will find work! Employers need technical staff who can communicate clearly.
Good luck
