The days of Saturn plastic econo-cars could well be ending. Check out the Saturn Aura concept car, essentially a rebadged Opel Vectra. IMO, when GM says Saturns will be "styled and engineered to European standards", they mean Saturn will essentially just be the name for Opels in the US. It provides them a cheap and easy way to boost the Saturn line and reintroduce Opel to the US market via the backdoor.

What does that mean for Saab? Not sure, but we all know GM is consolidating many aspects of Saab and Opel operations in Europe. I thinks its a safe bet that all future Saabs and Saturn-Opels (Sopels???) will share more and more components.
