How do you rationalize getting a new car?

Hey guys,
As most of you probably know, I have a '99 9-3 auto that I've had since new. I've done some modest mods, and I've kept it beasically perfectly mint.
Every now and then I contemplate getting a new one. I'm all for keeping cars for a long time. I like my 9-3 a lot. But, then again, sometimes it annoyes me, and sometimes it bores me a little (mostly because of the automatic). Little issues creep up, which are no big deal, but that plus the fact its starting to get a little boring make me consider a new one.
I want something more fun, and I really want a stick. (But that could mean keeping my 9-3 auto, and also picking up an old C900T stick).
However, I'm almost done paying for the 9-3. I can afford the new car now though, as I don't have many expenses. I'm 24, live at home, etc. I guess I need to rationalize, do I still want to be paying for a car in 5 years?
A red 9-3 Aero 5spd is really tempting me, especially with this GM employee price thing. But, then, do I wait for the V6T and not get as much of a discount?
I'm not good at these decisions....
