Dont Worry! The only kinda difficult thing about driving a stick shift is the initial hour or so it takes to get the feel of taking off from a stop. For the first couple of days, downshift only when you need to, dont worry about matching revs, or using the engine as a brake when approaching a stop (put 'er in N and use the brakes). My advice to you is not get too psyched out beforehand. It is more like learning to ride a bike where you work at it for a few hours and you suddenly get it, and thats all there is. I'm going to buck the trend and suggest you learn on a big v8 truck with loads of torque, so you can concentrate on what is important: the basic concept of starting out and then going to 2nd. If you can do that, you can do IT. Learn the basics first and dont worry that you're 'cheating' - you can always learn the cutesy stuff later. I would not suggest a small, high revving car -you'll be more worried about burning the clutch, stalling it, all that crap which will be alot less annoying once you have the bare understanding of IT. And yes, you wont want to go back to an autobox!
Good Luck, keep us posted!
