1. What do you think is the most important electronic gadget or device for a college student to have?
Most people are saying laptop, but at this point I consider it an essential tool for school work not really a gadget. My school includes one with tuition, so everyone has one. I would say cell phone is the most important, I could live without mine, but it seems like everyone else at my school needs to have one to talk on in-between classes and most importantly while heavily intoxicated moving from party to party. Personally I don’t drink and dial for the safety of myself and others.
A microwave is also essential, How else could I make easy mac?
2. What is your favorite or most essential gadget or electronic device?
Electronic device definitely my alarm clock, I would still be passed out in my dorm room otherwise. Next would be big noise canceling headphones, they are a lifesaver when you need to study, Dorms are not quite, and neither are libraries. Even if I don’t play any music the isolation is wonderful. I prefer my iPod, its great for walking to class, driving in the car, and studying at the library. I went with the mini, it fits in my pocket and I don’t even notice its there. I used to have a full size iPod, but it was silly when I was never away from my computer for more than a few hours, I can reload the 6GB of music twice a day if I wanted to.
3. What is the most extravagant or extreme gadget or electronic device that you have seen in a dorm room?
I buddy of mine has a breathalyzer in his room.
4. What gadget or electronic device do you most want?
An LCD monitor, I’m tired of moving my 21in CRT around. A smaller digital camera, mine is just to big to carry around all night, I would love to have something small that I could carry in my pocket to parties.
5. Do you have a unique electronic gadget? What is it?
I have ReplayTV that is on the network and can access shows on my suitemates replaytv, I can also transfer shows to my computer for archiving. I also have a modded Xbox running XBMC, I can access all my movies, TV shows, and music that I have on my computer over the network. Its great for parties, I can give some one a $25 Xbox controller and they can play any of my music, no dealing with lost/scratched/stolen cds, or laptops that are out in the open begging to get something spilled on them.

PS: I love gadgets and have more than my share, but I recognize that these gadgets are luxuries and are not necessary. Other than a computer, I could easily get by without them at school.
