It makes me that much sadder and that much more mistrusting of the human race in general when I read of how people behave in times of catastrophe. Of course our wonderfull media only reports and sensationalizes the bad and shocking news. USA Today reports of the obvious expected looting and general mayhem in the hurricanes wake, people climbing over the top of one another to collect whatever they can from retail stores etc. This, in plain view of the basically helpless Police and Nat'l Guard troops. Perhaps Im too quick to judge, fortunately no where near there, never experiencing weather that severe. What would you do? Food and clothing for yourself and family..maybe, but other high value items like jewelry ? People were filling plastic garbage cans and floating them down the street! Watch Ebay in the coming weeks, bargains will abound. Would you loot or try to help another person, or at this point, I might opt to help a stranded pet,as they are truely helpless and innocent, lacking the inherent evil of humans. One woman : Ive got a family of 8 to feed !, gee , ever hear of birth control ? I need a bigger SUV cause I got a BIG family now, gee, ever hear of birth control? How about leaving some earth and it's resources for the rest of us? Ok, sorry...there goes my I hate people rant.
