Currently there is a small construction project on the roof of my girlfriends apartment building, they are constructing a cellular phone tower. A couple of weeks ago when the work was just beginning my car was parked legally behind the building just below where they are working. In the course of this a piece of equipment was dropped on the hood of my car creating a severe dent. My car was parked and not moved from Monday night to Thursday afternoon of that week. I know the dent wasn’t there on Monday because I washed my car before I went to my gf’s apartment. I first noticed the dent on Thursday when I was packing my car for a trip. My car was covered in dust from the construction and it looked like someone tried to wipe the dust off of the hood of my car, upon further inspection I noticed the dent and a blue paint scuff, incidentally the same color of the construction equipment parked nearby. Needless to say I have to replace my hood because the dent stretched the metal and is right on a body line.
All I want is $250 to buy a used hood and a paint job
I contacted the building manager, who directed me to the business manager who directed me to the building owner. The owner of the building doesn’t know which cell company is on his roof building an antenna but told me that he would find out for me.
A week and four days later I called him, he still isn’t sure who was on the roof the day that it happened but said that the cell phone company, he doesn’t know which one it is, is working on it. Then he goes on to tell me that because no one is confessing to this accident that I should prepare to sue which ever company it was on the roof that day, which he still doesn’t know who it was, or which cell company is building the tower.
I know I am getting a run around here, but I don't know if it from the owner or through the owner of the building.
What should I do?
