We have a Lawn Boy (two cycle) that we bought new, and it has given us very good service for 20 years. It looks pretty beat up, but it still runs and cuts grass! I do almost nothing to it but clean the air filter element and sharpen the blade. However, we bought our daughter a used LB and it gave out after about two years. We then bought her a used Troy Bilt self-propelled unit, with Briggs and Stratton power, which seems very solid and reliable. The Troy Bilt is much heavier than the human-propelled LB with its aluminum (magnesium?) deck. I think that's what makes the LB so pleasant to use.
Mulch, don't bag. I hate to see people bagging clippings and putting them in the trash. What a waste of time.
My two cents.
John.
