unlike pokey I do not feel Klipsch is anywhere close to a top audiophile grade speaker. A speaker that goes for $5-6K ea is entrylevel audiophile to me. It's not that I have anything great (BIC Venturi's actually) but if you go to a audiophil store you will see $3K ea is cheap & $50,000 ea + is the top end :)
I have never been a fan of their speakers, epseically their horn tweeters. I just feel in their lesser models ($1,500 a pr & under) it gives them a weird un-natural tone. To me the most accutrate tweeter I have heard is the Emit from infinity, extremely accurate I just wish that when I sold electronics I had the funds to but the infinity kappa 8.1's instead of my BIC's which were a fraction of the price.
It's all personal taste though. If you like them more then what the audio shops had then by all means get them, they make good solid stuff!! However, if you have some small independant audio shop in your town you can almost always haggle with the price, Best Buy will NOT move on it's price :( Typically, a $1,000 pair of speakers costs the store $350-400 for the pair thus they have PLENTY of room to reduce the price :)
& like someone said, used is also a really good option!
