In spite of the fact that we have lived in Bismarck, ND for nearly 9 years, where there is essentially no traffic, my wife and I grew up in the Detroit area (the city for me, Warren for her), and I really like the "no left turn" approach they use there. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to keep things moving better than the left turn arrow situation in most other places (like suburban Chicago, where we used to live), where traffic backs up waiting for the light to tell you when you can make your left turn.
I'll take Van Dyke and 14 Mile to Higgins and Meacham any day.
