"I thought we were all talking about the influenza vaccine. Who is the "He" you're referring to anyway? All I see on that site are a lot of different, educated doctors giving their opinions on one side of an issue. I don't think anyone doubts the efficacy of vaccines in certain situations, like if they actually work, or if the disease they prevent is fatal."
Well I thought so too, but that site is anti-all vaccinations. My quotes are from it. Below is a direct link to what I'm talking about. As for the "sources" on the site. Well, as an example lets take the anonymous "whistle blower". Reading the answers, I'm more inclined to believe it's bogus and that the whole thing was written by the author.
"In the case of influenza, I think the debate cannot be ignored, and I wouldn't personally risk a vaccination for a non-fatal disease with no side effects, given what I have read."
Yes that's totally up to you. As with all drugs and vaccines there is a small risk of encountering side effects. For people under 65 in good health it's as you say, a choice between being out of action for a week or accepting the tiny microscopical risk of side effects. I seem to remember something like ~3 serious cases out of ~1 mio vaccinated here.
For the people in the high risk group it's a completely different ballgame. Here there is a real risk of a flu infection being fatal. Actually every year thousands of people die of the flu in Denmark alone...
