Ah...Worst speeding ticket...But, best story.
1972...Englewood, So. Cal. Driving a 1969 Shelby GT 350.
I am driving my brother to LAX to return to Fort Ord. About 12:30 am. I get lost and pull into a Shell station where the attendant was soaping down the islands. very slippery...I slide right through the island. Get directions and proceed to pull out. As I do the tires get no traction at all. Like I was on ice. Anyway, I finally get to the street, still no traction, so I punch it to burn off the soap. There was a Winchells dounut shop next to the gas station....with....oh...about 8 police officers sipping coffee. Well you would have thought it was the start of the 24 hours of Le Mans! They all jumped in their cars and took out after me. I probably went 100 feet and immediately pulled over, jumped out with my license in hand ready to explain....The cop was pretty nasty and accused me of exhibition of speed. Asked who I was exhibiting to? He said to the officers. Should have seen the look on the other officers faces. So, he wrote me for EOS.
I took it to court and beat it.
