In the beginning of the summer of '72 (sounds like an old fart's story, eh?)

I was driving to Saratoga NY with some friends on Route 69, east of Johnstown.

Some bozo in a '62 Chevy comes barrelling down the curve on this rain-slicked road on bald tires. Gravity, speed, and inertia decide that he's going to take his half of the road out of the middle. He did a lot of custom bodywork all along the drivers' side of my car. (No injuries to any of us, other than the knowledge that we were 4-inches from not returning home.) The NYS trooper who comes to our aid was named "Loveless" and looked just like Lurch from the original Addams Family.

A follow-up to this is that, a few months later, I was reading the Syracuse paper and read a little article about this very same joker, from Broadalban NY, having the same sort of accident driving yet another '62 Chevy. Gees!
