I am not sure how serious this guy was. I asked him to put it in my file. He said he would and would send me a letter. I wanted it in case SaabUSA says I am nuts or won’t transfer the matter to another dealer. I doubt I will ever see a letter. Even if I could make amends, I don’t want to support sloppy work on my car or horrible customer service. This guy could have moved along my warranty problem and did nothing but hinder it and complain about me asking him to help. This service manager has 25 years at a BMW dealer. It is enough to make me think long and hard about even considering a BMW. The dealer is a Volvo dealer too so that is out. I have had nothing but aggravation with the Saab. I think if I were to get another car, I would go cheap used or newer Japanese so I can recover my car sanity. Maybe a 9-2x since at least the thing should function ok. I could also go to Subaru dealers for stuff if I had to.
In regard to the warranty, I see it as bad for the consumer. You pay up front for something you may never need and the dealer can treat you terribly because they have a captive audience. Add in leasing where the people don’t car about their cars and you have the lousy car market we have.
