To CPO or not to CPO ? ? ?

As we get closer to pulling the trigger on a "new" Saab (a 2002 or 2003 9-5 Wagon) I'm wrestling with whether to pay the extra for a CPO car. The local dealer will add it on a qualified car for $2000, which seems steep to me, but I know it could well pay for itself.
However, it's really only a 2 year warranty beyond the factory 4 year. If we get a car with say, 31K on it and 8 months to go on the factory warranty, we'll be out of the original warranty at about 40K miles. The CPO gives us 24 months beyond that, or gets us to about 68,000 assuming we continue driving our usual 14K per year. After that we are SOL when something breaks.
By comparison, a good aftermarket warranty can go to 100K miles and cover most, if not all, of the same items, and for similar money. I had one of these on my 9K that I bought with 90K on it and the warranty ran until I hit 115K, and definitely paid for itself.
The CPO *appears* to be a good deal, but I'm not sure it's all that great.
What do others think?? TIA.
