"Apple has a technical advantage in hardware and OS."
I hope this doesn't spark a huge discussion on what's best, but I have to say that Apple does not and has not had a hardware advantage. Practically all independent tests and comparisons have shown this to be the case. However, they do have very good marketing and PR department which push the word "hyperbole" to a new level. An example of this is the new Intel powered Mac. Steve Jobs himself is now saying that it's 2-3 times faster than previous top of the line G5.
Hmmm how can this be, when the G5 was previously touted as the fastest desktop processor? (also contrary to independent tests at the time). It's especially interesting, when one considers the fact that the Intel dual core processors definitely aren't the fastest consumer processors around. The AMD dual cores, both the server and desktop versions (newer Athlon64_X2 /FX/Opteron), are significantly faster in practically all applications.
So no, Apple does not have a technical advantage. They do have a very nice and user friendly OS and some great designs, plus the build quality is pretty good.
