Though a lifelong mac guy, I recently built a PC (athlon64) to join my G5. The speed is pretty nice on both machines, so I tend to judge them by aesthetics. I found it's really hard to build a fast PC that's also very quiet without spending a lot of extra money. To me, this is huge. The G5 is super fast, and nearly silent. That's my particular technical priority.
In my mind Apple's technical advantages have never been about speed anyway, they've always been about user experience. This will sound cheesy, but when Apple is at their best, their software cultivates emotion in people, and their hardware is elegant enough to disappear into that experience.
Apple definitely has the advantage when it comes to OS X and the iLife software. Perhaps not a massive technical advantage, but certainly a large "look and feel" advantage. Windows is quite stable if you protect yourself, and there's lots of stuff that runs on it, but MS isn't even the same ballpark as Apple when it comes to making average users feel powerful.
