... with synthetics. Get a GPS style computerized map guide so you will never get lost. Drive around big cities during rush hours. Carry 2 gallons of water, a CB radio, and a blanket at all times. Carry a good cellphone at all times. Check in with fasmily 3 times per day, especially before and after rest stops and motel stays. Only stay in good motels/hotels despite cost, and bring your luggage into the hotel so theft risk will be reduced. If you sleep in your car, do so at a Walmart (Walmart encourages campers and such to use its parking lots, provides electricity, and has safety cameras and overhead lighting for added safety).Only carry $100 cash, and leave the rest on your bank card. Never drive tired. Load up your Ipod or burn CD's with your favorite tunes, (burn lotsa' CD's - at least 20. Then confirm that they work).
Finally, bring a digital camera and video camera to take loads of pictures!
