My experiences for car shipping was pretty horrendous when I moved from Boston to LA. I used an online broker and didn't choose the cheapest shipper. When my 9-5 wagon got to LA, the hood had been repainted poorly and the badge was missing. Turns out they had dropped a chain on the the hood and scratched it quite badly. Technically this repainting is illegal, which I found out afterwards. I immediately noticed it, and ended up in a month and half fight with the moving company to get compensation to fix it correctly. They wanted to repaint it and I said "not a chance...my choice of body shops..." Ugh...I got $900 of the $1300 I needed, but got so fed up with the place that I just got it done and made up the difference.
I've used a closed truck shipping company (InterCity Lines) previously and they were great....very professional and very cautious, BUT twice as expensive. I should have used them...I'd have factory paint on my hood and would have come out ahead!!
Next time, I'd drive...no question.
Best,
Paul H.
