two sets of tires or three? Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Mon, 14 Aug 2006 08:51:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Where I live we have about 4.5 months during which it will not snow, about 3.5 months of serious winter, and the rest is a crap shoot. I actually own three sets of rims. I currently have summer tires on one set. I am debating using three sets: summer, all-season, winter. Is this overkill? The thing is, during 4 months of the year the roads are dry 80% of the time. But you can't drive on summer tires, because one day it could be dry, the next day 2 feet of snow. Then a week later, dry again.
I'm also considering just two sets, with one being Nokian WRs. How do these compare against pure winter tires?
So:
17" summer tires and 15" Nokian WR
or
17" summer tires, 16" all-season tires, and 15" pure winter tires
(I actually already have the 16" tires in my basement, 80% tread left)
