Believe it or not, I like to park next to the handicap spaces, if available. The handicap spots are always wider with painted "no" zones on one or both sides. So, the space next to it can crowd over near the handicap spot and you now have a spot that is 1 1/2 times as big as a regular spot. There is so much space between the cars that a fully extended door doesn't come close. Most people that park in a handicap space are not those with wheelchairs or walkers, but usually healthy relatives of those driving the car with the handicap tags.
