Many Saab buyers and owners are more adept than the people who work for GM, Saab and the dealership. That ain't so hard, particularly when there's a narrow focus, like someone looking for a specific car.
Who else should make excuses for Saab but the front line sales personnel like me? I think your fury should be directed towards the sales rep at the dealer. They are the ones responsible for customer contact, the central issue to most complaints.
Blaming IDS on understaffing is the easy way out. Of couse if IDS staffing were greater there could be better and more customer contact, but that's not really their function, the return call is the function of the sales consultant.
Just because you can schmooze your way past the sales consultant and contact the folks doing the job isn't always a reason there should be more of them to talk to you. And increased staffing doesn't always improve the service.
The bottom line is I'm fiercely loyal to the Saab IDS rep here in the USA. They tried to have two people doing the job when they moved to Detroit, and well it's a god send that she is able to continue on.
