I wouldn't put it in the basement. I prefer a room made specially for the hot tub. I built a large gararge big enough that I was able to put a hot tub room in one corner of it. It works great. I put in two LARGE exhaust fans to suck the humid air out. Since it's in the gararge I can get plenty of ventilation and not have to worry about loosing all that heated air. (I live in Minnesota) The hot tub that I really like is called Artic Spa. They don't put the insulation on the tub. They put it on the side pannels. The plus for this is if there is every a hot tub leak it's easy to get at and fix. I've had a couple already. Much better than taking the insulation off the tub to fix the leak.
