The cop hit the brakes to tell you to slow down and back off - that's what i do when i'm being tailgated. You then came back up to 10 over the limit with him. He gave you a very easy ticket. As to the person who said they can't go fast without an emergency, that may be technically so, but in 40 years of driving I've learned that cops pretty much do what they want on the road, and often speed to come up in the left lane behind speeders, and then stop them. I've seen them do well over 100 mph w/out top lights on. And Delaware on I95 is the only place from mid-Jersy at least to Washington where there is a 55 limit. I got a warning at the bridge for not dropping down to 45.
He lied, but the correct ticket, if he had clocked you, would have been 20 over the limit, lots of points, and an insurance hit. Move on, I say.
