I do find the fogs to be beneficial for lighting up the roadside. SAAB's stock foglights are well designed and do not blind other drivers, which is something that cannot be said for some other cars. I have found Japanese cars to traditionally have lighting setups that do the least to aid the driver in seeing where he or she is going, but the most to blind other drivers. When it comes to aftermarket add on lights, they can be anything from great at helping the driver of the car they are installed on while not having any negative impact on other road users, to doing absolutely nothing except blinding oncoming drivers, when they are of poor quality or poorly installed/aimed. Unfortunately, inspections don't check that tehy are installed properly or where they're aimed....
