While I personally prefer the c900, for running around in VT I would go with a 9000, partially because you can get one that is newer, and partly because they don't seem to rust. The c900 is wonderful and fun and SO nice on snow and ice, but it does rust, and unfortunately seems to rust in places where you can't see but do create safety issues. The big downside of c900's is that you must choose between 4 door practicality and hatchback practicality. I had a 1980 900 GLE 5 door which was perfect for both carrying people and/or stuff. When I replaced it I had a really hard time deciding what was more important, but realized that I carry people more often than stuff, so I got a 4 door. I almost switched to a 9000 but I could not find a good one in my price range. I curse the decision whenever I need to put anything large into the car. It is not an issue of "will it fit inside", but rather "can I fit it through any of the doors". I had to unpack a 19 inch tv set in the Sears parking lot because the box would not fit through the trunk or the doors.
Whatever you choose, enjoy it!
