Excellent point. Our jeweler mentioned this, and I had some concern at first. But my understanding is that while you can't cut it off, you just need to smack it w/hammer (or maybe squeeze it) to fracture it off.
The material properties render the ring nearly impossible to scratch or mar because it is extremely "hard". But the upside of extreme hardness always brings with it the downside of easy fracturing. In this case easy fracturing becomes a safety feature.
I gotta believe most EMT's have been informed.
Anyway, it's just an interesting new alternative to soft gold.
