I had to go for a drive Friday afternoon/evening here in Maine where we'd had a nasty wet winter storm - about 12" snow, then rain atop that. Half the vehicles on the road were trucks with plows. I was in my 88 900t and was hauling a emergency generator between locations.

I saw one pickup truck with plow perfectly straddled atop a 4+' snow bank perpendicular to route-1. A police car was there while they presumably waited for a tow truck.

Then in a speedy zone in Nobleboro, a plow truck was cleaning up an intersection while I waited to make a left turn. I waited on route-1 while he dubbed around completely oblivious. He kept backing out into route-1 without looking. Eventually after close to a minute he was backing toward me. I thought about letting him hit my old beater car and retiring it, but wasn't sure if he was a municipal truck or hired, and figured I'd get the raw end of the deal if it were muni since they are more protected with tort laws and such. But I quickly moved out of the way instinctively as his tailgate was just a couple inches from my door. Then he noticed me, and pulled off to the side to let me by.

My father and I used to plow professionally, so I have a decent idea of what a plow truck driver should be aware of and what to expect of traffic. There seems to be lots of unprofessional and unskilled plow drivers out there.
