and should fit in the overhead on Boeing and Airbus planes. There are a lot of bags like that out there and they always seem to make it onto the plane. I know my 9-10 inch bag fits no problem
You might not want to pack it really full until you know how much it can easily compress.
Also if you fly enough to board in Group 1 or 2, get on the bird ASAP so you have a few extra minutes to futz around.
