OT: McKlein all-in-one travel bag.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 7 Apr 2007 08:36:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After bein inconvenienced with having to carry two bags on short business trips (one for clothing and one for meeting documents), I bought a McKlein all-in-one bag yesterday. Mine is their "Chicago" model in ballistic nylon; it has multiple chambers, i.e. business tools, clothing, documents, padded laptop compartment, and is removable from its wheeled base for light weight trips.
My only concern is its total depth. Its overall dimensions total to 42 inches, which is less than the suggested airline maximum, but its depth is a substantial 11 inches on the wheeled base. Does anyone have experience fitting one of these into airliner overhead storage bins?
I leave Tuesday afternoon on my next trip, and although having a wheeled bag is nice in airports, it may not be so nice if I can't fit it in the overheads. Taking the bag off its wheeled base is one solution if the experience of others says it will be a problem, gate checking is another (call me weird, but I don't mind gate checking). But I don't want the hassle of trying to shove it in a compartment, finding it won't fit, waiting until the entire plane has boarded, then disembarking the plane to gate check my bag as the door is about to be closed.
Thanks.
BTW - this week's trip will all be aboard CRJ's.
