You're one of 'em, a tire and suspension connoisuer, that is one of the folks who have sensitive enough butts and can tell one brand of tire or shock from another. I think I drive too many different cars for the differences in the same car to make sense.
I know in the BMW motorcycle world everyone replaces their stock shocks and springs with Ohlins for about $1,500. When I ride an Ohlins bike I can tell, but I dunno' about it being a $1,500 improvement. My stock 1999 R1100RT shocks with 76,000 miles still seem fine and I ride new ones all the time.
Todays suspensions are so dramatically improved from when I waw growing up in the 60's that even todays worn out shocks are better than new shocks from the 60's.
