I've seen a few options on these, from $150 to an entry level audiophile Pro-Ject table. Me, I'm sticking with my SOTA Nova III with vacuum hold-down platter, SME-V tonearm, and Shelter 901 cartridge. Analog glory >>> MP3 version of the song. At 1100 or so LP's, I simply don't have the time to even think about the prospect of ripping to MP3.
My MP3 player has plenty to keep my happy when I listen to it on airplanes and trains. The rest of the time it's CD's and LP's for me!
I recall doing about 600 of my CD's over a few days while working. I had 2 PC's going, and each time a player's drawer popped open, I stuck another one in. I went at 128K rate. The big time sucker was putting in track titles on rare/import CD's.
