Earlier I used my VISA card to pay for dinner. It was denied. So I called the bank right after. The security department of the crdit card company asked me if I have three large amount of charges from Lowes and Home Depot in Gaitherburg, MD. The charges were $418 and change, $1,241 and change from Lowes, and $1,300 some dollars from Home Depot. Just to be sure I called my wife. She has already got the call at home from the bank as it turned out. Naturally none were made by us. The bank closed our account following the phone call. We will get a new card in a week. But I have to use a different credit card beingout of the country now.
The thieves are getting very good now if you think about it. Neither credit card at our possession was lost. So the thief has a duplicate card with the same electronic signature somehow someone embedded in fraudulent plastic. He was so confident he hit stores like Lowes and Home Depot to get big ticket items without worrying about being caught.
Wonder who pays for those charges if the thief does not get caught eventually.
