I put almost 280K miles on my 2000 9-5 Aero. The new owner expects to add another 100K-150K miles to that....for a total of 380K-430K miles. Odds are good that he'll make it.
I did all of my own preventive maintenance and most of the repairs as well.
- 3 mos. or 5K miles on the oil changes and filter. Rotate tires at the
same time.
- Flush/refresh the brake fluid when it starts to look brown-dark brown. -- Replace transmission fluid every 30K miles if it's an automatic.
- Truthfully, I never flushed/replaced the power steering fluid.
- Fuel filter every 30K miles
- Flush and refill the radiator every 2 years. You may want to replace
the thermostat at the same time.
- Serpentine belt and all pulleys every 60K miles (9-5 4 cylinder)
- All other preventive maintenance as Saab recommends.
- Check all fluid levels and tire pressure every Saturday morning. I've
always plugged my own tires when I find a nail...pour water over the
hole after you pull the nail if you don't hear anything. Nail holes
generally show up as a drop of only 3-7 psi after a week.
