It really depends on where you live, too... You have mentioned some great ideas. But depending on where you live, that would have an impact. If i were living in the frozen north again, I'd make sure I had a block heater, even if it was parked indoors. Cold weather is a drawback, because the hardest you car will work, and the most wear will occur is during a cold start. So if you live in California, and the coldest it gets in the winter is 50 degrees F., the car will outlast one that sits all winter in -10 to -20 F. ice and snow. If you live by the Ocean, or along the Gulf coast, the salt air takes it's toll on the paint, In Arizona, the blast furnace heat dries out the interior leather, and warps plastic in some cars.
Another way to make your car last longer is to drive it. Make sure it goes more than 5 miles when it is cold. The more the engine gets up to operating temp and stays there, the better off the whole car will be. Less condensation in the motor, and in the oil. Drive the car, and park it indoors. With a good maintenence schedule, your car can run for a long time. Look on line for an A-B-C type service plan, or talk to any fleet guys like UPS, the local bus line in your town, or even the mechanics at the truck stop. They can get you on a "plan", or you could just follow the owners manual, if you have one. I budget $100 per month for repairs.
Hope that helps. I ran a fleet of Dodge vans to 375,000 miles, you can make your car last that long too!
