This happpened to me last winter. For me there was a leak. I concluded that there was a leak because I could not maintain pressure in the system. I have a gravity system with the tank but about 20 years ago I put in a new furnace that has a pump that circulates water throughout the house and has a pressure gauge. I had to keep adding water. Since the leak was in a crawl space that was not accessible I paid for these "experts" to blow torch my radiators for hours until they could hear the laek. Then they agreed that I was right. We just cut off the pipes that connected the radiator and took it out. The funny thing is there no great loss of heat in the room. See if you can maintain pressure. If you can't maybe there is a leak. Maybe you don't need the radiator. But you need to stop the leak. We have removed two radiators and the house is still ok.
