My '84 C900 base model ran great for 20 years. Even in it's last year with us I still took it on 750 mile round trips without a second thought. Not as comfy as my 9K or 9-5, but still ran just fine and I could take it on just about any kind of road in any weather. It finally needed too many things at once and I decided two decades was enough with one car.
Those older, simpler cars were easier to work on and much easier to diagnose if something wasn't right. Driveability was never an issue. Get in sit down, fire it up and drive away.
